Be Faithful to What You've Been Given

So far, this year has been challenging. Last month was especially hard because I was attacked with doubt, depression, and insecurity. I was in the process of preparing for the SCAD career fair and was feeling pretty great. However, once I got there, I was already feeling defeated.
I’ve been lost when it comes to what career I am going to walk into after college and how I am going to get there. My biggest prayer has been for God to reveal this to me so I can be prepared, but He has been silent on the topic.
Since I was feeling defeated and He wasn’t speaking regarding it, I started to doubt Gods goodness. I “felt” forgotten about. I thought maybe God wasn’t speaking because maybe I messed up along the way and was no longer in His perfect will. But that was a lie straight from the enemy. I was still in His will and He was still speaking, it just wasn’t what I was expecting to hear. God would only remind me to just focus on the assignment He has already instructed me to do.
This took me back to when I was living in disobedience. In that time, He would only speak regarding the first step that needed to be done. Something I have learned while on this journey is that God ALWAYS does things in a sequence. He doesn’t give multiple steps, but just one step at a time.
'But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.' 1 Corinthians 14:40
Things I’ve done to overcome the negative thoughts:
Renewing my mind with the word of God and focusing on the things He has spoken to me about my life. This has encouraged me on days where I felt completely defeated and lost. I had to focus on what He has already said will happen in the future.
Taking my eyes off of my situation and placing them on Him. The main reason why we can be discouraged and doubt is because we have focused our attention on ourselves; our feelings, our negative thoughts, or our circumstances. We must rest and know that God is taking care of everything in the background. We just have to do what we know to do now. Once I started to focus on Christ and the assignment, I felt free from those negative emotions.
I may not know what I’ll be doing later, but I’m sure of what I'm supposed to be doing now. I am well aware of the assignment He has placed in front of me to do and I must focus on that. If you place all your attention on the unanswered prayers, you will miss the things He is trying to show you in the process.
If you can relate, I encourage you to be faithful with what God has already asked you to do and trust that everything else will fall in line with His timing. The best way to overcome doubt is through having faith! While in the process, you may stumble into your calling.
